In honour of World Ocean Day, teams from across General Oceans took part in coordinated clean-ups around the world, organised by the General Oceans Foundation.

At Wicor Foreshore, colleagues from the General Oceans London Office, Reach Robotics and RS Aqua spent time collecting rubbish from the shoreline. In just a couple of hours, the team removed 34kg of waste from the foreshore.

The rubbish was sorted and recorded as part of the Surfers Against Sewage Million Mile Clean, helping ensure the day contributed not only to a cleaner local coastline, but also to wider data gathering around the issue of coastal and marine pollution.

The Wicor Foreshore clean-up was one part of a broader effort taking place across General Oceans teams globally. Together, the coordinated clean-ups collected more than 350kg of rubbish.

World Ocean Day is an important reminder that caring for the ocean is not only about large-scale innovation and long-term change. It is also about practical, local action: taking time to remove waste, record what is found and better understand the pressures facing marine and coastal environments.

Thank you to everyone from General Oceans, Reach Robotics and RS Aqua who took part, and to the General Oceans Foundation for organising the wider initiative. The combined effort shows what can be achieved when teams come together with a shared sense of responsibility for the places where land and sea meet.
